ProBox on the Move - ProBox / Larry

Nice board Bill, that looks like a real fun board!

Those fins look neat too. Are they for your boards only or do you ship em ?

Always inspiring to see such nice work.

[=Blue]Thanks for the kind words Surfer Dave

I have a complete range of fin templates to cover most circumstances. These are tried and true designs going way back. I often see them copied but these are the real deal.

SINGLE FINS

HOTDOG

SEMI

MAXI GUN

TRI FINS

87R (shown in photo)

JR this is a smaller version of the 87R

SR this is a larger version

Twin

I have others but the ones listed are commonly in stock at my shop

These are fiberglass and can be done in most any color or print.

I can send them anywhere in the world.

Send me a personal email at and I will send you more info. I don’t want to tread on the “no selling” rules

Here is a sample

I think many of us here started on that old single fin design. It does not get more classic than that one.

Best thread in ages, complete board porn.

Thanks Larry

Here is another board recently finished.

I enjoy doing my boards all the way through by myself. Like I used to do back in the Lightning Bolt days. It takes me awhile as I have to juggle all kinds of other responsibilities but they eventually get done. I am not against shaping machines, I just don’t use one at the moment. So these are all hand done. Just me and my trusty Skil 100! I don’t consider myself just a shaper. I am a surfboard builder, in the complete sense of the words.

Hi Bill, Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to talk to me today. After talking to you today I was pretty surprised that you shaped this board from scratch and then laminated it, routered out the boxes, sanded then glossed and polished the board. Pretty impressive with everything you have going on. I am glade to see you enjoy using ProBox in your boards. Mahalo,Larry

Bill…I have been around this awhile and I have always had a ton of respect for you cause your a surfer and a boardbuilder to the core. Love the hand done stuff and the fact that you still do it in spite of running the rest of your business. I know many a talented shaper who simply quit.

Larry,

I hadn’t check swaylocks in a while and this morning was stoked to discover you’ve registered here and have been posting pictures. Awesome thread. Thanks for sharing, and thank you for all the fins and great service over the years.

Best,

Gregg Hunt

Gregg, Good to hear from you (-: Just having fun. Mahalo,Larry

I rode customs shaped by my good friend Makani Mcdonald for a number of years and had a couple boards back in '05 with ProBox out of the Wahiawa factory. Here’s one from July '05

I’ve been building 1 or 2 boards a month for about a year now and interested to do Probox install myself; Is there a contact or shop here on Oahu?

New Generation Horan Fat Back Versa - Plane. Thanks to Larry Allison of ProBox for the great fin system and Spitfire fin. Thanks to Matt Calvani for doing a great shape. Thanks to John Belik for a great quad set. Thanks to Cheyne Horan for being one of the best surfers of all time that was never afraid to experiment and all around great guy.

These were shaped as single fins that “can” be ridden as multi fins. It’s tricky…but Matt did an exellent job.

Are these “anti-drag” inserts available for sale yet?

I’ve never seen them advertised or mentioned outside of this post…

Also where’d this versa-plane buzz word come from and can you explain what is it supposed to do technically other than board selling buzz?

Just trying to wrap my head around it…

mahalo…

Aloha oneula, Yes the anti drag plugs are available in Black or White. The Versa-Plane is a concept which can only be done using ProBox ( A SWISS ARMY KNIFE SURFBOARD.) I explain the Versa-Plane concept at the bottom of page 1 and top of page 2 of this thread using the Blue Roger Hinds board as a sample showing the concept in simple form for people to warm up with. Mahalo,Larry

Those boards look unbelievably fun and very intriguing Solo. Any chance of a ride report/photos/video of how they go. Are they loaded dome bottoms/soft rails? WOW.

This was a 6’8’’ there is another 7’2’'. A couple of friends ordered these and will be riding them in Mexico on Sat. Hopefully they will give us some feedback.
