Retro Bolt build

Kensurf, I still say this is the board of the year!!! This will be remembered for your craftsmanship (at least by me), not because of some alleged "lawyer" with questionable communication and grammatical skills running a classless strongarm ploy.

Ps. How's that Kokua!!! THAT'S a guy I want on my team. It just goes to show you;

You can't keep a good man down!

Shakespear anyone??

Johnathon : "Hey Vince, let's pound him!"

Gerry : "Eh, you called him out, you pound him."

its Gerry Lopez

what makes you think i am a large company?

there are three people on our team

i have had to beg borrow and steal for this opertunity.

as i told Ken i appologize for the extreme first email

but he is just one of many people making bolt boards in garges and factories both.

Kens a nice guy, i dont want any negative vibes from him.

and he and i are good, the rest of the jackwagons mean nothing to me.

come on you guys lighten up

lets suport the Lightning Bolt brand resurection

remember spred good karma

Jon and I are good

Sweeet board Mr Bolt

and welcome to sways

I think this really is JP.

  1. He already got screwed out of one brand he started, years ago.

  2. His command of the written word says  “Home schooled” all over it.

"Interesting to compare the LB reaction to that of Bing when the Tweener build thread was going..."

Now THAT was a classy response!  When Bing himself stepped up and offered nothing but kudos and encouragement to Guilhem I think everyone was stoked.

have you seen Parrish's funky bolt?  Man am I glad the shop is gone.  Maui Wowie.

Boards are getting easier to mass produce, margins are on the way up.  Especially for the classics.  Brah.  Clothing getting a little stale.  Better authenticate the lifestyle real quick with some hard goods. Branding soul.

What a great time to be a hobbyist.  Keep up the fine work everyone.

sorry you feel that way Mako,

i have found many many people making boards in garages in factories and i have to speak up.

i am good with Kensurf and was wrong for coming off like that to him.

but i cant just let people make Bolt all wille nilly.

i did come off wrong and i think made a friend out of Kensurf and respect his intention.

you are just adding negative to negative, thats not surfing

this the same Lightning Bolt, not the new.

thats why we are working so hard to go back to the OG heros and shapers like Gerry and Reno and Rory and make boards in Hawaii and California with the guys that have the credentials.

Kensurf is one of about 40 guys i have run into in the last 16 months making bolts off the grid. i wonder what you would do if your life was invested in a company you loved and that was happening to you?

its a hard thing to deal with, but Kensurf IS doing a good thing, so i bend not bow to this guy. but i cant to everyone. you should see some of the sad sacks shaping bolts out there.

anyway 4 is cool, still growing and learning

have a nice day

we will be out there for surfers healing soon, come by and say hi…

Dear Mr. Bolt/J.P.

Still learning?

Ok...how about a response that would've been about how iconic the brand was and how this fine work of art pays homage to it. Then let everyone know about all the great things you're doing to resurrrect this "iconic" brand that we loved so much!  Maybe it would go something like this:

Hey Ken, JP here, man what a great board! That's an incredible piece of craftsmanship. Maybe one of the best original representations that I've seen yet! It's amazing how many people have been inspired by the "Lightning Bolt" over the years! Some of the greatest surfers and shapers in the world made this wonderful thing that I am now proud to represent. Hey by the way we are really working on resurrecting the "Bolt" fame in todays market so alot more kids will have these great memories when they get to our age!  Check out some of our new stuff at "WEB SITE ADDRESS", and tell me what you think!

PS. The wood inlays just did it for me...can I put a pic on our website?  Cheers, J.P.

Ok now does this sound better? If you really love it you really should stop chasing hobbyists around on the internet. No giant Chinese factories here brother... mostly consumers.

thanks woody,

thats all good.

good letter.

as i said before i was mad at a different NICE guy making bolt boards i was faced to confront.

i hate being a cop.

but i did beg forgiveness. and i think Kensurf and i are straight.

can i just cut and paste your letter to the other people on my list?

or do you not understand my comment? lots and lots of hobbyists.

its a real bummer…

or do you need some personal closure?

i just wanted to try to apologize to the guys that i felt i pissed off.

not protract this,

go surf, forgive me

Jonathan Paskowitz

thats the JP

JP

yep,,,, we're good

and thanks for working with Huck

Howzit LB, I answered your PM in a very nice manner only to find you calling me "the White guy with the Hawaiian name from Az" . Well this white guy from Az lived in Hawaii for over 40 years and most of that was on Kauai. Where were you 40 years ago and I knew you may have been born in Hi but we all know you grew up mostly in Ca surfing SanO with the rest of your family. The reason I am in Az is due to having Cancer 2 years ago while still living on Kauai and no longer can surf due to the trauma from the operation and the radiation treatments and My family had homes here and had to move back to help them less than a year ago. Have you ever spent over 40+ years living in Hawaii? You have to also realize that if you threaten a swaylocks brother then most of us will step up and defend him no matter what it takes. If I am right you are also a white guy and I grew up in S,E,LA in So Cal and started surfing at the age of 5 and built surfboards for close to 45 years, how many boards have you built since I have built thousands but have been told to stay away from the chemicals by the doctors. Now if you know so much about Hawaiiana then you are familar with what my user name stands for and I believe the rest of the Sway Brothers can back me up on the fact that it is appropriate for me to use that name here and it was the name of my Glassing business on Kauai. I think you should find out a little history on someone before you start with the name calling, or should I just call you the haole from california. Now learn to play nice here or stay away. Aloha,Kokua

well there ya go ken you done a good job there

 but your one  failing?

do your own thing.

stay away from those  bloody old designs    (onward and upward my man)

**cheers huie
**

Howzit tblank, I hate to say it but who would you like to have on your team? If you are referring to me than I want to thank you for the compliment and would do the same for any of our Sway Brothers since we are a tight group and I am proud to be a part of it. It just really got to me tho have a newbie come on here and threaten one of our guys who has just finished bulding one of the nicest boards to grace these pages in a while. Take care and remember that Kokua will always be here to help his sway brothers. This is a special website with special people on it. Aloha,Kokua
