Show us your resin tints and patterns!

thanks rob!! i appreciate the feedback!!

BG - I’m going to take a shot at a tint inspired by your microbus board… gonna do black outlines around the color panels and go with a kinda plaid look - did you guys film the lam on that one by any chance? I’d love to find a video of someone doing a multi-color lam like that to get an idea for what kind of strokes I’m going to need to do to keep the colors from running grey

dont have video of the lamination. just clips of the progress. each color had its own cup, dont add the cartalyst until your ready for that color. do the light colors first, they seem to stay in place and pop, try pooring your resin in the spot you want the color on the board, as soon as you start using the squegee it starts to blend and look grey, so the less you use the squegee the better the color comes out. if you have any questions ill do my best to asnwer! good luck with your design

Left the shop and can’t get this one outta my head.

LOVE IT pico - very nice with the swirls and strpes!

EPS / Epoxy.....my camera freaks out when I try to take photos of this one.....some things planned...some things not planned....7'5" x 22" x 2 3/4"

yeehaa  pico !

when you say "left the shop" ...do you work in a glassing / shaping place ?

and , is this pictured  board YOURS ?  [I just ask , because it looks a lot longer than your 'usual' ones , yes ?]

Ray , nice colours mate !

ditto , is this board for you ?

if so , what fin setups you got planned ?

  cheers guys !

  ben

Yes Ben I work at/in a glass shop, but this board is mine. And yes this is my longest one yet at 8’0". I’m thinking single fin. What template would you recommend?

Ray, Your epoxy color work is inspiring, do you use spackle? Blank looks like it has a nice finish.

dang Ray!

that looks like sea weed

good job

I’ve glassed in that room before. Have you guys cleaned out the barn next door yet?

so happy to know Ed has a inspired glasser

tell him Nainoa says hello!

looking good

Yea, wow, small world. As you know everything in the barn is a work in progress. We’ve moved some stuff out, and a bunch of boards moved in.  I’ll let him know you say hello for sure, and thanks for the nod. Learning through trail and error up here. Love seeing your stuff top notch.

 ....me ?

I'd go with a fin box , so I could try LOTS of different templates , till I found what worked best for the particular waves it would be ridden in ....as the waves vary , so can the fin vary , that way . But this is only me , others may vary ?

[ and , "maybe" .... side plugs , too, perhaps , just to expand your options ?]

  hope that's helpful ?

  cheers mate !

  ben

DV, no one comes close to your work.

owl board...

a couple more abstract. most are eps. tan one is SUP

...back to the 1980s ,  when I never HAD fluoros , 'first time round' [or FCS plugs ,  either , of course !]

Which one do you guys think I should go with for my next board? I’m kinda thinking the more simple one but I like the patchwork idea too (logo is for reference - won’t necessarily be the actual logo colors)

or

Ready , set  , go......

One day you pretend to know nothing...one day you Go For It...so... Go for It. Today would be a good day.

I think you have a mentor.....you just act like you know nothing.....I saw the shaping room photos. Go For It!

Well I still have a lot to learn if that’s what you’re getting at - but yes I have a mentor who is helping me with this. I’ve got one regular lam under my belt so I’m trying my hand at the pigment. My choice is for the more simple one mostly because it will be less complex squeegie work.

I may still have a lot to learn, but I certainly don’t think I ever insinuate I know nothing. Sometimes I just have different ideas, that’s all
