Thanks for you kind words

It is my 2nd go at resin coloring (believe it or not)

Im making boards start to finnish

There are a lot of disiplins to be learned to be a master board builder Im just starting

Resinhead, your California Brush Fire Board looks sick. Thanks for the trying out our foam and your nice comments about it. I wanted to elaborate on one thing. Ice 9 foam (pre-glassing) will turn yellow if exposed to the sun. After glassing it does stay white though.

I am not a board builder, but just got a board made and wanted to share the resin work. Not quite at the level as some of the ones I’ve seen posted, but here it is.

Well, I haven’t done anything lately, but I can still throw in!

My first couple of boards:

First and only epoxy swirl on a compsand:

my most recent one! inspiration from vader!

Paul,

i see youve decided to join the “darkside”

its all in good fun!

Insane DV as usual. I like the drunk Jedi. Reminds me of myself although I’m about 100 lbs lighter than the “Jedi.” Here’s my latest longboard. Did the resin pour on the gloss, I’m glad I did, as I didn’t know what to expect when I started this one. It’s an EPS blank, of course glassed with epoxy. I used pearlescent white pigment in all phases of glassing, including glass on fins. Had I known then what I know now, I would have done a few things different, but overall I’m stoked on the results. The different colors affected the pearlescent (brushed on first) as they displaced it when I poured them on after the brushout. I didn’t get them mixed real well as I wasn’t sure how much time I had with RR’s fast set hardener, so I rushed it a bit (didn’t need to). Anyways, the non-mixed pigment had interesting effects as well and I was able to sand off most of the excess that added neato effects (see logo close-up post sanding). The board’s pretty light and pretty thin and rides great (for a longboard).

Darthvader,

Your resin work is truly unreal.

Really.

So, Have have you tried any of this color tomfoolery with epoxy? I have to switch over to epoxy right when I’m getting comfortable with PU and want something to strive for…

Your kick ass.

thanks BrianO…

sorry you cant glass at your house anymore with what you are used to.

i have never personally glassed epoxy with any color yet…but where there is a will there is a way. if you transfer what you have learned technique wise and take that with you to epoxy maybe you will find that you are able to still express yourself creatively.

its funny the epoxy is worse for you but since your neighbors cant smell it you can use it…bummer.

hearz some boards i tought looked kinda neato standing next to eachother.

when the hustle and bustle of surfboard building gets to be too much, i like to take my main source of inspiration out for a few “hotlaps”.

i love fine imports like this nice red wine lambo.

time to get back to work lol

DV,

Really nice work on the Lambo’. What tints did you use, or is is pigment? And how did you get the metalflake in there?

youd think id have all kinds of surfing publications laying around the shop…actually all car mags from euro tuner to automobile…my main source of tints and colors for boards…honest!
