Not cool.

That resin job looks like it was a LOT of fun to lay down. I tried one with epoxy and it didn’t turn out so well. I’ll have to get pics of the salvaged deck colors some day.

Pat, yeah the colors look like poly to me. What happened with your epoxy trial?

Instead of swirl… I got smear. It was green over yellow. It ended up being all green, with some yellow peeking out from behind. I’ll scrape some wax off the deck and get a shot in the next couple of days.

Pat

i am sure we have something in commen

Thanks Pat,

Yes it is poly resin and it’s always fun doing swirls, the photos don’t do the bottom justice

Oops. Are we hijacking? I think this thread is really a show-me thread and not a how-to. I’ve got some questions for guys with epoxy tint/swirl/potlife experience. Maybe I should start a thread.

Backyard broken board delam reverse Slobjob…

somthing like this will be easier to achieve rather than a swirl with epoxy. imho i think epoxy takes to long to “kick” to get a well defined “swirl”

Any chance of seeing more detail of the white fish with ines running across the width of the board in the last pic?

Thanks

Hope no one will comply, i’m not posting a finished board but just the first attempt with swirls, it’s for my #4 eps board, i was lookin’ for a lava effect as Resinhead posted some times ago.

This is what i’ve obtained mixing up,

5/10 red tinted epoxy

4/10 yellow tinted epoxy

1/10 of epoxy tinted with black printer ink

I put the three colors in one cup and made it drop.

I’m not really satisfied, the yellow disappeared, so i guess i should use it as base color, black is maybe too fluid compared with colors so when i squeeged the resin to cover the dry parts i obtained only a mud, hope next try will bee better, any suggestion will be really appreciated.

Regards Flavio

i don’t know if this has been posted before but heres a good glassing video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QsATY5eKA8&feature=related

sorry for the slow response I was out of town

As far as the “budget surfboard” comment, well,(on a positive note) I think all boards are created with some form of a budget in mind, so ,I guess

the answer is ,yes

(on a negative note,“you cut me real deep Shrek”) LOL

Im gonna guess your refering to the 7 fin box’s, there is a reason for them

the guy who wanted this board had a death in the family so he had other things to do

I took no deposit, but was interested in shaping a “Biscuit” so I went for it, I shaped it to his specs

I like playing with color so I played

He wanted a thruster set up but at this point had no say in the matter

I saw a quad twinzer awhile back and decided to put in all fin options

I should be getting the fin set up this week

How does it ride? beets me

the guy who buys it can let us know

I ride LB’s
