This thread is ridiculous. I never imagined that something like this might even be possible.

Darth/Gary/Alex/Mohican/whoever you all are (can’t keep all the names straight) – your kung fu is Most Powerful.

I hope I dream about these boards tonight

Looks like fun.

Lankameese,

Thanks for the kind words. We have done about ten boards together, four of which have been swirls. My 13 yr. old whos my oldest has taken a very deep interest in the glassing/swirls process and has been involved in every job ive done. I take half the board, and he takes the other half and I never have to go behind him. No air bubbles, no dry spots, hes just gets it done. My youngest likes to pull off the resin when doing swirls to see how wild they come out. I always have been very close with my two boys, but surfing and building boards together takes our bond to a diffrent plane. Thanks for your comments

Heres a board we did for them thats still being worked on. Sorry for the repost

Best thread this year.

Darth that colour work is off the scale, top of the game. really very impressed.

We had to stop using poly beause we were getting complaints about the smell, anything like cobalt that works with epoxy?

Do you think I could just turn the temp up, or leave it sitting in the cup on mass till it heats up and gets to that really liquid stage just before it goes off? I can lam a board pretty quick when I have to. I tried that with some epoxy resin pinlines and it work rather well.

The green fish was the first swirl I tried, it was gassed on the hotest day of the year (95F) maybe thats why there not too much mud??

Keith, Nice color work, really like the darker board. Mahalo, larry

see your youngest showing his tru colors with his t-shirt… classic

Five Ten 5 fin bonzer with balsa fins, and a whitish yellowish tint with resin pinlines.

woody,

the epoxy work i have done has all been clear. the epoxy medium for color work is all you…go for it!

to the family and two young glassers if you ever take a trip out to san diego look me up i would be more than willing to show the boys a trick or two. in a time when everything seems dark in this industry its nice two see kids who find it fun and want to build surfboards. laminators at a proffesional level are hard to come by and color workers are rare like four leaf clovers.

keep up the good work people!

thanks for the kind words

Mudybech, did you notice the blue sea-horse at the bottom of your kid’s board?

Resin does weird things, eh?

thanks Larry - wish I’d gotten some better close up pictures of it. Here’s a shot of the deck side, still doesn’t really show up well. (Betcha didn’t notice the ProBoxes, huh?)

Balsa,

Yeah thats pretty wild how thing just appear, like staring at the clouds… also we noticed a lions head in the middle with a nose bleed… lol

Fun Stuff!

Bob

Darth, your avatar reminded me of this funny picture:

here’s another slob job I did, just to keep the thread on track:

Vader,

Thanks for a kind offer. I will definitely look you up on my next trip to San Diego. My boys and I would love to learn tricks from such a master jedi. Your work is strong!!!
