The pigment cans always start to rattle on the work bench as im getting my resin ready.
Alots of fun.
Best thread of all time!!
Great work by all!
So True Bob, So True.

So, I almost bought the yellow flyin fish back in August...if thats the same one I saw in Half Moon Bay. Such a sweet board! By the way, the only thing that kept me from buying was no board bags at the shop! And I was flying to Hawaii the next morning. Damn!
welcome to the forum…your boards are gonzo!
GUYS
I am about to make the pin line in my longboard. can somebody give me some tips to make it look pro!???
thanks!!!
practice tapeing the board

Yeah I was going to say the same thing - nice to see your input here mate.
Great blog too.
THIS THREAD IS AMAZING! Thank you everybody for sharing. So much information and so much to learn.
Here are some resin tint boards that all of us at the shop recently finished. For the fish- thanks to Marlin for the fish's 101 fins and our friend Ed for the lam designs. And thanks swaylocks, sacred craft, and our friends/customers for inspiration.
The pic of the multi-color SUP is a funny angle and before hot coating, but I think you can still appreciate some color contrast.
Hope the pics show up!
here’s a few recent-ish ones from the frigid NE UK…
green/black/white with compbands and solid panel…and 3" laps…whew!
clear with abstract compband/nose:
pink inlay deck - after (purposely) directionally scratching the deck:
freelap tints…only in small doses…
.
and dodgy polishing…
and some other freaky deaky stuff…
and one is progress…
resin is fun, but only part of the wonderful journey!
there’s some real stunners on this thread, you guys rock!
Rob,
Wow. I especially like those little abstracts in contrasted color. The color combination on your freaky deaky fish is great. You've inspired me to try some "controlled" scribbles on my next personal 6'10 egg. However I still can't see how those black lines didn't get messier?
Aimee
hey aimee,
thanks for your kind words. It has taken me a little while to get it somewhat figured out, but it all has to do with timing…like everything, I guess.
Definitely give it a go, you may not get exactly what you want, but then that’s half the fun!
Here is my first resin swirl, you can see the obvious rookie mistakes (as in running outta resin so not an even effect, that long pour line on the left side is driving me crazy) but all in all looks interesting. Just did it late night, happened to achieve the worlds ugliest lap cut so if anyone feels like teaching me the way to those gorgeous lap cuts I see here please feel free. Anyway I have been learning soo much from everyone here and seeing your amazing work I figured I’d post my results. Sorry not the greatest quality, taken from my phone.[img_assist|nid=1047109|title=Resin Swirl|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=480|height=640]

Walked in to shop Saturday and caugth Mark McConnell playing with resin making swirls:

here’s a vid I made of it too.
