Thanks guys! no its a round pin just plays tricks on the eyes. I had to go look at the board after the pic LOL. I wrapped the deck in a dark blue but the pics wouldn’t come out very well.
[img_assist|nid=1049439|title=6'8'' Bottom|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=480|height=640]Didn’t get around posting this till now. Had a few surfs on it already.
So just black bottom tint and clear deck.
Huge thanks to paul smith (pauluk) for the help and all the input.
its a 6.8’‘x2.75’‘x19’’
(Paul: still playing around with the fins…the first time was bit tracky, but LOADS of …ahem… drive on the bottom turn. Pushed the fins all the way back, became less drivey, so now the fins are 3/4 up the box. well see how that goes.)
Thanks Ken, I hope to have the blue swirl finished this week and i’ll upload some photos, i added a picture of a different board with a blue swirl after being polished
Hi Greg, no surface prep just glassed it without sealing the blank, no cutlaps, turned out nice i glass the top layer with clear resin and no need to cut. If it were poly i would probably do cut laps but its too much hassle with the epoxy and comes out nice like this, i uploaded a pic of the deck
The epoxy is 2:1 that i purchase locally (Israel)
The Yellow board is also EPS and Epoxy, hope you like it!
For the gloss im using a matte spray, im not sure but i think its what you guys call 2pak, its thinner based and 2:1 with hardner, i prefer the matte finish cause they are easier to polish if your spray booth isnt sterile. I would be happy to know if you have any tips for the finish, I would finish without the spray, however i add the decals in the end so the spray has to come over the decal.
I used a very small amount of black pigment. maybe 1/4 oz for BOTH sides. the black is very strong so you have to put it through a good filter. i figured that out the hard way, those red flares are covering some plotches on one of the rails from small flecks of pigment smearing into the cloth.
Do yourself a favor and throw that smoke tint away… You will have to add so much of that stuff to even be able to see the slightest color change, just use black in small incriments 'til you get the shade you want and your resin will be better for it.
