Hey sauce, that’s the nicest looking resin tint I’ve seen in a while, love the colours and love the arrangement. I just finished one today and took it for a surf immediately after sanding, will post a pic or two soon.
If you take it for a surf again , 'p-co' , give me a ring if you like , and i'll bring the camera down , or if you're camera shy , maybe we can swap , eh ?
cheers

Thanks for resurrecting this special moment Ben! I have been AWOL from Sways for a bit, but your FB posts have given me a pulse again. My boys have been involved in all the boards I make and I am very proud. They can put the smack down on a resin swirl. Heres a few from our quiver.. Nice work on the blue board by the way!
Heres a twinny i just finished up 6’6" shape inspired by Mr Pavel and glass inspired by Zeph

A test swatch fro a Mexican blanket.
nice colours mike !
I look forward to seeing the finished board [here?] ...shortboard ? longboard ?
the colours remind me of a pair of fins I made a few years back . [ I used green pigment , blue tint , yellow tint , and yellow pigment , from memory]
here they are on the Walden 'CD4' , with a pair of green, white , and yellow pigmented fins...
Mike , did you also use tints AND pigments on the 'swatch' ?
cheers !
ben
wow, nice colours - at risk of sounding like an idiot, whats the difference between a tint and a pigment? are tints translucent and pigments solid? if so, by using less pigment can you make a tint?
are tints translucent and pigments solid? "
yep, you nailed it in one , bluey !
I HAVE made tint by using tiny amounts of pigment , yes , [in fins] , but I think if I were to attempt a tinted large area , like a board , I would want to use tint ...hopefully to get a more uniform , consistent result on deck and bottom ....
cheers
ben
Hey Chip,
This will be my first Mexican Blanket and its going on an SUP. I used epoxy in a combination of light blue and light green tints in between the white, sea blue and yellow. I want to have enough tinted patches that I can find the line for the cut lap. I am just a humble garage hobbiest so I really appreciate the feedback.
I was just saying to a friend , a few weeks , back how REALLY impressive I think it was ?Austin's video? [footage here at sways ] on "mexican blanket resin work" was !!
it looks really hard , and time consuming ...I guess that is where epoxy WOULD be a good idea , eh ?
I am a hobbyist also , but without a garage or a shed , so I'm a spectator , I guess ? [ like THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of quiet observers here ...]
I eagerly look forward to seeing this progress , Mike ...maybe if you know someone who can take the photos while you do it , we could have a "mexican blanket " photo thread , THAT would be REALLY good eh ?!
cheers , mate !
ben
[maybe , with a big enough fin panel , I could have a go at making some 'mexican blanket' pattern fins ?!]
