Show us your resin tints and patterns!

Thanks, it was a fluke I guess. The tint was a powder, so I dont think it was mixed enough. As a went over it with the squeegee it made those darker specs. I am happy with the result though :)

And a high-density foam-stained fin…

Here is my new 10'0"  with the drip rails and my wifes new 8"0" flower design that I hope to have finished before the upcoming Fathers Day weekend.

just laminated this today - went for it, so no test panels, first go at a cutlap and the second time i've glassed a board with polyester. pleased with the results:

and yes. its a hollow woodie = 6'4" mini sim ish = props to Austin for sharing "that" video, and to Royal for suggesting doing a colour at a time, taping down the glass and taking it slow

That looks awesome!! Did you use The UV resin and if so it kicked just fine even with the dark colors? Also what exactly do you mean by taping down the glass? did you pre tape the lapsunder the board?

Dark to light mexican blanket…nice touch. you get “props”.

Nothing beats the feeling you get when you see the liquid glass of a nice gloss:

thanks man - just bog standard polyester seabase ISO 7x resin, slightly under catalysed - i've found that even with no uv additive a bit of sun warmth helps it go off. the top was masked off for the lap, then cut the bottom about 50mm oversize and taped down tight round the rails - i think this really helped to keep the rail colour clean - first ever cut lap too. pinstripe next then one more coat then sanded finish

My first attempt with resin tints. Definitely a fun experience. RR epoxy resin with fast hardener, not too much mudding.

I was hunting around for epoxy resin pigments and stumbled across this site.  Great selection of colors at a fair price.  Bought a few so I’ll comment on how they work out.

wowww… I got up to page 115 and had to quit for the nite.

I’ve done some test patches on 18oz biax over a rejected aspen core… both sides, got 3 patches out of it, I think we’re ready to try it for real.

Just wondering how stuff is going to smudge and run in the press.  Awaiting my already swirled base matl’ to show up then giving this a shot… praying its ground breaking stuff and not a mess.

I’m sure there will be a bit of a learning curve, not just in applying the swirls and making it appealing, but keeping it that way @ 70psi with heat.

Thanks to all for the inspiration.  Should be done within the week.

these tints are very inspiring.  I wish more people wanted them and I was better at doing them.  It is an art all to itself.  Its has a huge learning curve and is a closely gaurded secret.  thankfully you all supply hints and tips on how to break in.

Pre wax right before first surf this past weekend.

got a little bit of mudding but oh well their is always next one

and this is the deck for the same board. im calling it fire and ice hahahjust need to cut and pinline, than off to hotcoat , and this is why you should wear gloves when you glass.
