Great boards ken and bud… really nice work
My second board. First go at resin tints, stripes, cutlaps, pinlines and acid splash. Might as well just go for it! Couldn’t have done it without the wealth of knowledge here on Swaylocks.
This is my first attempt at shaping a board and doing resin work.
I am pretty happy with the results, can’t wait to get it in the water.

colbyg and rcp really nice work for first boards…
+1
nice jobs…
just polished this tonight, 5’11 x 19 1/2 x 2 1/2
Nice A2, I like the shape and the resin job! I want to do a black and white one so bad! But everytime I mess with black it's a disaster!
5’3"x22x2 5/8" sanding and polishing tonight
Cool stuff guys
Heat gun works well for getting resin off of concrete, Poly breaks at lower temp than Epoxy. Wear a good mask because it is toxic when using a heat gun.
I always used a heat gun to take glass (Poly or Epoxy) or Bondo off of boats and concrete, works like a champ. Keep a metal putty knife around to help and watch out because it can burn your skin if you are not paying attention. It is cool because when the bond breaks you will see the resin get a milky color and you will hear a creaky crack sound.
Thanks guys. I think it was 10 colors plus a tinted flood coat. Definitely a lot going on to stay on top of it all. A great learning experiance and opend me to new possiblities for the next one. Now if I can just pull off a bitchin polish job like kensurf and a2tall!
Just glassed bottom, sun caused some reflections but you will get
general idea. Done with West System epoxy. Board is HD foam, first board
ever attempted with kids. Have not wet sanded, clear coated or polished. This is right off the rack. I did have some glass problems, couple of strands got free, going to sand them down a little and cover with paint pen before clear coat. Very happy for first time and with Epoxy results. Not perfect but learning a lot.
here’s a spider web i laid down on friday the 13th. first pattern tint.
Pirate, that is sexy!
hey Pirate = thats sweet! is that white web first then blue tint? i'm wondering if you could do the web (or other freakishly awesome design) in clear then add a tint after (on a woody of course) so the design remains clear?
yep, i do the clear at the nose first to get the logo on and so i can fold the cloth back over, then the web was done with with tint out of a squit bottle, then flooded with blue and work the resin as little as possible to avoid muddying. it should work with clear, just make sure you keep your squeegy clean, flood the cloth with a little more resin so you don;t need to work it as much, and pull the resin out with as little strokes as possible.
I’m pretty stoked on it. btw thats done with CET epoxy, so i have a lot of time to muck around with different colours before tucking all the laps.
Nice = thanks!
I think this is my favourite thread in the whole world ;0)
