the fastest 3 to 4 foot point break surfboard on the planet

goes reallllllllllllllllllllllllly fast

I thought the criteria was a six foot board? Are we talking about building a board using the initial criteria or are we just having a pleasurable ‘circle jerk?’  Just wondering… Mike

yea, haul ass fast design, why so many byrne 6 channels have seen the racetrack at G-Land…

I’d like to apologize to all and especially hydro for my negative post above.  It was at the end of a very exhausting day.  I offer that as an explanation and not an excuse. My apology is sincere.  Please continue with the fun.  Lots of bitchen boards being shown.  Mike

Howzit hydro,The fastest board was a teardrop shaped by Diff and that board was like it had rockets attached to it and I could make impossible sections but it only liked to go straight but you said that manuverability was not an issue, it was a 6'2". Aloha,Kokua

Thrailkill’s poo doesn’t stink. Obviously hydro_skipper’s does.

Your flawed intellect has led you to two incorrect conclusions.

Have you tried a mat yet? You said you wanted to go really fast on a point break…

Yup, mats and alaias are the way to go if your sole intent is haulin' ass.

Yes. An unfortunate use of metaphor and not a pretty picture. What. You don’t think  I actually know anything about that stuff… Do you?   There’s others probably just as bad.  I believe hydro is looking for advice on a 6 foot board for use in going fast on 3-4 foot point break.

Rooster  , just for the record , I have no idea if you know anything about that stuff or not , nor do I really care , I just thought it was a very funny comment  I had to do a double take and read it twice because it was such an incongruous and droll remark to be posted on a surfboard site .

gb,

Your right.  Context is often lost, too, when communicating in this medium.  It was a lame attempt at humor in bad taste to stear the thread back to the original question. I rarely offer advice on design, but this question is something I am interested in and am always tweeking my boards to find that fast, down the line speed on a six foot board.  Hope others have some ideas.  Mike

strange but true

origins of the term circle jerk came from

the fishing technique using a metal ring to catch fish.

when the fish swims through the ring the line was

jerqued hard to stun and entrapp the fish

of the appropriate size to fit cooker

whjch also fit the standard mesopotamian

bread roll. The slang circle jerk make a mockery

of the high art of mesopotamian fishing & cuisine.

…ambrose…

eating fish

makes you

go faster.

and changes the odor

of your stool

to a high sweetness

remniscent of spice cake.

only if you man enough ..... plus the red wetsuit makes it way faster!!!

Dimensions are:
Length 17 feet
Width 26 inches
Thickness 2.5 inches
Construction: Parallel profile 5 layer redwood
weight: very heavy

yeah stay away from the anchor down the center. keels are the best best bet… thruster nup!  surf off the rail . thin enough to bury it. flat bottom. low entry rocker. thin tail… id stay away from traditional fish tails tho and go for stubby type tailand pull it a narrower then traditional fish…

id say something like a twin keeled stubby. keels as rooster describes but without the fish tail. keeld fish are fast but are not exactly easy to surf in hollow waves. tails are too wide and butcracks impractical. but rockers keels and rails are perfect for fast trim and rail surfing

id like to try a tunnel fin on a fish type outline . roy rekons they are fast . and to my eyes they could work like keels a bit perhaps

Apparently this went well at Kirra when it was breaking again…

Looks like it has many of the elements being discussed so far, albeit crudely executed.

Hey Paul,

My keeled fishes tend to bog in mushy waves and turn on in hollow waves. It’s all relative though. If the wave is heaving on take off I have a hard time getting in and setting the wave up. Age and ability have a lot to do with that, of course. Not talking about slabs, just fast, hollow, down the line waves.  As a kid I used to watch the guys surfing heaving slabs in the La Jolla, San Diego area on fishes.  They were riding them on their knees, though. Thanks for getting this thing back on track.

Ambrose,

Your humor and timing are impeccable as usual.

Cuttlefish,

Cool board.  I’ve never shaped a fish and left off the crack to see how it surfs.  I never did like the look of a bunch of channels on a board.  Too busy, but I don’t doubt they work.  Mike

Paul, I respectfully differ, in my experience, keel fish with a twin pin (butt crack) are great for hollow down the line surf (not slabs). You just gotta keep a good low center of gravity and let them be… A good low center of gravity sometimes means kneeling down…
