Im looking forward to it!. 7’2" x 22 1\4 will work good round here. Im sure between mick, malaroo and I it’ll get wet plenty!!
my first travel board went from Qld, NSW, VIC, New Caledonia, back to NSW , sevrals times back and forth, then it was ridden finless by me for a few months, then a sometime hire board at my shop in Yamba, then sold recently…she had a good life…she may pop up somewhere again…
You bet! Let us know when she arrives
I picked up the board yesterday. Steve can't find me the book due to having moved but has promised to search for it and saud he thiks he knows which box it is in. Due to all the rain etc, the board bag was mouldy and zipperstuck so I have got a new bag. It adds some more volume so the cost to transit is a bit more.
I've e-mailed Beerfan and hope to send the board on its journey soon. Either Steve or I will forward the book. In the interim keep any comments or photos and they can be pasted in or added once the book materialises.
Bob
tragic about the book going missing and the boardbag abuse
god , how I hope that the book re-appears !! it would be devastating , after people's contributions , if it is lost ?!
It's GREAT that the board will FINALLY be travelling [moving] again ! GOOD ON YA BOB , you're a legend !! [I'm super glad that someone CARES [about the board moving again !]
Ambrose would be STOKED , I'm sure , at all the effort and work and expense that you have put into this , his labour of love !
After all... boards are MADE to be RIDDEN , not grow mouldy , abused , and neglected , and forgotten ...I just hope the board has survived well ???
cheers mate !
ben
Ben,
Steve assures me the book is safe. I'll follow this up with him. I don't think the bag was too flash to start with.
Bob
Sweet!
Beerfan,
I bought another bag this morning as the other one I planned to use added too much bulk. I'm not sure how my dimension calculations will work given the rocker in the board. We'll see. I sent you an e-mail with a couple of questions regarding delivery.
Bob
thanks heaps bob for getting the inertia board moving again
beerfan , you guys better SURF it !
..... not treat it like the ill-fated , whereabout unknown 'Auslocks' board , which also floundered in your neck of the woods for AGES , not being surfed ..... before rosco ['quentin'] and entity [daren, in culburra] finally got a chance to RIDE it [the 'Auslocks' board].
cheers , I REALLY want to surf this Ambrose " travel " board ! And , hopefully , contribute at least some photos or a fin , or something , to it ?! ...
Q:
Why is it that there are [to my knowledge anyway , I may be wrong , though?...] NO photos of the BOTTOM of the board ?
..... is it [meant to be ridden] FINLESS , or something weird ??
judging by how the 'wavefins' never really got ridden repeatedly by others , and regularly reported on , I'm not holding my breath waiting to hear or see anything on poor Amby's "travel" [haha] board for a long time yet ?!
thank goodness that the book may [hopefully] be reunited with it before / "IF" it "DOES" ever make it across the nullarbor , to this neck of the woods ??? [actually , desert]
cheers !
ben
Beerfan,
The board was picked up sometime today so should reach you Friday or Monday (there is no week-end delivery). I'll check my credit card, to make sure there are no extra. If no extra fees it means the dimensions that I cited are ok.
To stir the stoke, below are a couple of photos. I'll contact Steve about the book. Don't let that stop you taking any surfing photos which can be added etc. MicD and Malaroo are nearby to you and have expressed interest.
If Clint moves from Melbourne to Sydney, something may be possible in that direction.
I'll also pm CassS. There was the possibility of getting the board to Ben via his father (I think it would need to be back north by September, from memory). This might be too rushed. Boomy may be another option, in one direction or the other to/from WA.
The online freight stuff was a complete pain, but if they look after the board it is a handy option to get it west and may be the easiest option.
It now has a nice new cover, with a zip that zips. Add fin + surf and away you go.
Bob
Hi folks,
Sad to report that I’m going to have to retract my relay offer. My dad’s had to cancel his trip over to SA. Back to Plan A (or was it Plan B?)

Hi Bob !!
....do you mean the board has no fin , at all ??
cheers
ben
Hello Ben,
There is a fin, taped to the deck.It just needs to be's screwed in.
CassS,
Thanks for the update.Let me know if you wanted the board to go via South Oz,
Bob
It's here!!. First thing, a little description, its got nice bevelled edges in the nose, then the rails are round but not too boxy, into very thin n round at the tail, and it has an S deck. Some deep double concaves through the tail. Glassed to last too haha. I sealed a few rail shatters, really just for waterproofing more than anything. Deck has lots of spider cracks, but it feels strong, no major dents.
The recent swell has disappeared, but tomorrow i'll check my local after night shift. Not sure how it'll go in small hollow low tide semi closeouts, but i should get it wet anyway. Yes ben i will report back.
A huge thankyou to bob for making this happen.
UNREAL !!
you LUCKY bugger !
thanks for a shot showing the bottom , Mark !
now , WHAT is the fin on it , and can you get a closeup of THAT , and its depth , base , rake measurements , please , mate ? [I tried to crop your shot , to get a better look at it , but that is one SMALL photo , mate ?!]
cheers , and have heaps of FUN with it , please ?!
for a ? [maybe] 9 year old board ? ..... it looks in pretty good nick , at least , from here , with my eyes , through this screen ?! : )
[ so envious ] ben
[wish I was there , to get watershots of you guys there [mickd , malaroo, entity , quentin ] surfing it / and so I could take it for a paddle , or ten !]
Took it out this morning, chest to head high, decent shaped, low tide waves. Took a bit of getting used to paddling the s deck. Got a few waves before the offshores stiffened up. Turns pretty good for a single fin, pretty free and easy. The bevelled rails near the nose saved me from kooking out on one wave, I dug the nose on take off, but it just popped back out of the water, and I kept goin haha. Feels more of a backfoot board.
yeehaaa !!
thanks for that , Mark !
were you mainly going backhand ?
or
equally forehand , too ?
early days yet , I know , but .... does it feel as good , forehand and backhand ?
yep, I found the couple of s-decks I rode took some adjusting to .... where to stand , the sweet spot[s?] , moving around on the board , and even the paddling . But , mine [ the 6'9" 'Wilderness' ] DID have some very knifey rails , especially in the THIN nose ?! And , a very bellied bottom [which also took me some time getting used to !]
let's hope you get PLENTY more surfs on it , eh ?
how did it feel , bottom turning , if you are not used to singleys ?
cheers mate !
ben
Beerfan,
Good to hear that it arrived there, promptly and cost what was quoted & it has been surfed already. With the altered dimensions (which may be an over-calculation) it is about $90 from 2529 to 6019. There may be cheaper options, it wasn't much cheaper when I changed the postcode to Sydney.
MicK D & Clint may also be interested.Malaroo mentioned some filming or photos.
I'll keep chasing up the book.
Bob

.....alright !
NOW we're talking ... DO it , Mala !!
[ maybe you could put fcs plugs in it , and test ride the "wavefins" at the same time ? [kill two birds with one stone eh ?! ]
cheers !
